Aeration is a valuable horticultural practice for lawns in South Florida because it relieves compaction that occurs from equipment and foot traffic. Aeration helps to thicken lawns and allow roots to reach greater depths. Power raking is a valuable horticultural practice for lawns in South Florida because it removes thatch build up in lawns. Build of thatch creates dense layers of organic matter which can disrupt the effectiveness of irrigation and fertilization. Power raking is an effective horticultural method to improve lawns.
Granular fertilization is an important companion to aeration and power raking. After we have completed aeration and/or power raking it is suggested that a granular fertilization be completed as well.
